Anyone that knows me, knows that I HATE TO BAKE despite my love for baked goods. Once in awhile I'll dabble in baking but it is usually only semi-homemade. Although I take extra pride in something I truely make from scratch, I'm not to proud to say when I have not. For this citrus apple pie, I used a premade Pillsbury pie crust. All you have to do is unroll it and place it in your pie dish. Luckily it's so good if you don't tell anyone it's not homemade, no one would know!
Enjoy this refreshing and delicious twist on a classic American dessert!
Ingredients
1/3 cup of flour
1 cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons of cinnamon
4 large Cortland apples
2 tablespoons of melted butter
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract
Juice from one freshly squeezed orange
For the crust, simply unroll the bottom layer of crust onto the pie dish. Pour the above ingredients on top of the crust once mixed together. Finally, place the top layer of crust over the apple mixture and pinch along the edges. Top the crust with one tablespoon of melted butter and spinkle with sugar. Bake in the oven at 400 degrees for 35-45 minutes.
